Frequently Asked Questions

Add your second truck only after: (1) your first truck has been profitable for 12+ consecutive months, (2) you have $50,000+ in cash reserves beyond current obligations, (3) you have identified reliable freight for both trucks, and (4) you have a qualified, trustworthy driver ready. Rushing expansion is the most common cause of small fleet failure.
Leasing reduces upfront capital and includes maintenance, making it lower risk for expansion. Buying builds equity but ties up more cash. For your first expansion truck, leasing provides a safer exit if the expansion does not work out.
Most owner-operators can self-manage up to 3-5 trucks while still driving. Beyond 5 trucks, the administrative burden (dispatch, compliance, billing, driver management) typically requires coming off the road or hiring an office manager.
