Garmin dezlCam OTR1010 vs Garmin dezl OTR1010: Built-In Dashcam Worth It?

Both units share the same truck-specific GPS navigation with custom routing for vehicle dimensions, weight, and load type. Route planning, truck-specific POIs, and active traffic avoidance are identical. There is no navigation difference between the two — the dezlCam simply adds a dashcam to the same GPS platform.

The dezlCam's integrated 1440p dashcam provides continuous recording with incident detection and automatic save on hard braking. Video quality is good for evidentiary purposes but does not match dedicated fleet dashcams from Samsara or Motive. The dezl OTR1010 has no dashcam at all, so this is purely a dezlCam advantage.

Both feature a 10-inch HD display with pinch-to-zoom. The dezl OTR1010 is slightly thinner and lighter since it does not house a camera module, making it marginally easier to mount and adjust. The dezlCam is slightly bulkier due to the integrated camera but the screen experience is identical.

The dezlCam OTR1010 costs $100-150 more than the standard dezl OTR1010. For that premium, you get an integrated dashcam that eliminates the need for a separate device. However, a quality standalone dashcam like the Vantrue N4 offers superior video quality for a similar price. The convenience of integration versus the quality of a dedicated camera is the core trade-off.

Combining GPS and dashcam into one unit creates a single point of failure — if the dezlCam needs repair, you lose both navigation and recording. The separate dezl OTR1010 keeps your GPS independent, and a standalone dashcam can be replaced cheaply if it fails. Some drivers prefer the reliability of dedicated devices for each function.
