Our Review

Fuelman is a Fleetcor-owned fuel card that serves both gasoline and diesel fleets. Unlike most trucking fuel cards that focus exclusively on diesel at truck stops, Fuelman works at regular gas stations too — making it useful for fleets that mix Class 8 trucks with light-duty vehicles. The discounts are generally lower than trucking-specific cards like TCS, and the pricing structure includes monthly fees. Best for mixed fleets that need one card for both diesel rigs and gas vehicles.

Pros

  • Works at both gas stations and truck stops — rare for fleet fuel cards
  • Good option for mixed fleets running both diesel trucks and gas vehicles
  • Accepted at 50,000+ fueling locations (gas stations + truck stops combined)
  • Purchase controls and fleet management tools are solid
  • Maintenance and service tracking features available on higher-tier plans

Cons

  • Fuel discounts at truck stops are lower than trucking-specific cards
  • Monthly fees ($8-15/card) reduce overall savings for small operations
  • Contract terms can be restrictive with early termination penalties
  • Primarily designed for general fleet use, not optimized for OTR trucking specifically

Our Verdict

Fuelman fills a specific niche: fleets that need one fuel card for both diesel trucks and gasoline vehicles. For pure OTR trucking operations, TCS, Comdata, or the Pilot card offer better diesel discounts at truck stops. But for a plumbing company with box trucks AND service vans, or a trucking company that also runs delivery vans, Fuelman's broad gas station coverage is genuinely useful. Know your fleet composition before choosing.
